The card
This page is the whole document in the shortest form that still works. It is what a person carries. The rest of the document is why.
The line. What we know, we hold with an open hand. What we love, we hold with both. Tell the truth, do the work, help where you can, and do not wait for certainty to begin.
The commitments. Honesty, including with yourself. Non-cruelty. Care for the vulnerable and the stranger. Keeping your word. Attention. Stewardship, of the world and of what you own. Humility about what you know. Repair and forgiveness.
The sitting. Twenty minutes a day in silence. When the mind wanders, return. End with one thing you are thankful for.
The gathering. Once a week, two or more, at any table: twenty minutes of silence; a shared meal, with anyone present fed; one hard truth each, answered only with thank you; one act of service done or promised; one thing each is thankful for; the line, said together. About an hour. No leader, no sermon, no collection.
The rest. One day in seven, stop.
The repair. When you have wronged someone, go to them, name it without excuse, and put it right.
Where. Any table is the table. Any building is the building. Nothing is sacred about a place; everything is sacred about what is done there.
The dissolution clause. If this ever produces cruelty, coercive certainty, fear, wealth or status for its leaders, obedience to any person, concealment of serious harm, or retaliation against those who speak, it has failed. End it and begin again.
